Effective Command Training Centre launched in Wesleyville!

Instructors Katherine Lamb and Brent Thomas launching the Effective Command Canada Training Centre at Wesleyville Fire.

In October, Effective Command Canada held two Instructor courses; one at Pembroke Fire Department and one at Ontario Power Generation in Wesleyville, as well as a refresher course for the instructors trained last year. These courses were attended by Augusta fire, Deep River, Petawawa, Bonnechere Valley, Arnprior, North Algona Wilberforce, Brighton, Trent Hills, Clarington & OPG Fire Departments.

the instruction was fantastic, but the conversations had during the debriefs and throughout the course was invaluable

The instructor course equips Training Officers, Fire Chiefs and shift based personnel, with the skills and tools to deliver Incident Command training to their teams – ensuring their personnel are well trained and equipped to deal with any incident type. The initial instructor course is refreshed annually to provide the instructors with the most up to date research in the sector. We also complete an assessor standardisation session and provide a forum to discuss training strategies, scenarios and ideas for the future.

Having launched our second Effective Command Training Centre at the Wesleyville site, we are looking forward to offering an array of Incident Command courses at all our new sites in 2025!
